TOPIC: Google Accounts 2-step verification

Google Accounts 2-step verification 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Google has recently improved security for it's GMail users by offering 2-step verification, which sends a verification code to (in my case my iPhone) so that I can logon to GMail securely on my own and other PCs.

Worked very well until I realised that my Events list was not showing up in Rainlender!!

Took me a while to realise that I needed to add Rainlender to my GMail 2-step verification apps listing (Manage Application Specific Passwords in Google Accounts)

As soon as I had generated a new password and entered this in place of my previous GMail password all Events suddenly appeared in Rainlender.

This info may need to be added somewhere in the Rainlender help files.

Many thanks for an excellent piece of software.

I changed the error message which Rainlendar shows in this case to display instructions how to create the application specific password.

- Go to your Google Account settings with your web browser.
- Click the "edit" link next to "2-step verification"
- Click "Manage application-specific passwords"
