Multiple alarms for recurring tasks/events issue 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Hi, I'm using Rainlendar Lite 64-bit 2.13.1 on Win7(x64)

Is there a way to have ALL alarm "reminders" notify about the same date of a recurring event/task, other than keeping the first alarm popup on screen permanently?

Here's what I did.

I tested both an event and task recurring every 1 day at a specified time.

Both with alarms going off 30, 10, 0 minutes before the event starts / task was due.

(Can be done with a 2, 1, 0 min setup too)

Here's what I found:

  • The 1st alarm will notify of today's event/task. Then if Dismiss All or Dismiss (in Snooze menu) is clicked, the 2nd and 3rd alarms will notify of tomorrow's event/task.
e.g., 10 and 0 min alarm prior to today's event shows this message: Tomorrow (Due in 1 day)

  • Like this (at 0 min, for a 30, 10, 0 min setup):

  • If 1st alarm is not dismissed, and the 2nd and 3rd alarms are reached they will also notify of today's event/task.
e.g., 0 min alarm shows the message: Today (Due now)

I tried looking for (and trying) different settings in Options > Advanced, but no luck.

Is there any way to close each alarm for a recurring event/task and have them still notify of TODAY'S event/task?

Or just leave the first alarm notice up for minutes/hours/days?

This kind of thing can cause people to miss important events.

MULTIPLE ALARMS ARE NEARLY USELESS WITHOUT A WAY TO CLOSE THE POPUPS AND STILL NOTIFY OF TODAY'S EVENT/TASK.

Is there a way to do that?

Found someone with the same problem:
www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=42&func=view&catid=4&id=23624

After at least 20 tests, I have found this:

It is related to multiple alarms assigned to ONE recurring event or task.

It happens to the remaining alarms only when the 1st (starting) alarm is DISMISSED.

Then the remaining alarms of the current event/task will "point" at the NEXT date of recurrence.

It seems to be done by DESIGN. I can visibly see the clock icon change in the Manager when an event/task is dismissed. The icon has to be reset, but that keeps the popup on screen.

Maybe a setting to close and still notify in remaining alarms of today's event/task, when "dismissing" alarms, could be useful?

There is a bug with the alarm target calculation as it will always take the time from the last alarm instead from the one which gets triggered the next. I'll fix that.
