TOPIC: Automated backups via batch script

Automated backups via batch script 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Hi Rainlendars,

I was wondering if there's a chance to do automated backups via batch script or
alternatively via Rainlendar itself (Rainlendar version: 2.9 b111 64bit).

Cheers,
Fernandes

Why? You have until 10 backups (Options!) See

Look in the FAQ and search backup --> www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php?option=com_easyfaq&Itemid=26

or in the wiki --> wiki.rainlendar.info/index.php?title=Backup_and_Restore

or in the help:
Backup and restore
To make a backup from your settings, events and tasks you can select the backup menu item from the manager's file menu. The backup will create a zip archive from the necessary files which you can save to some safe place. If something bad happens you can easily restore all the important stuff from the backup file.
Backup doesn't cover events and tasks from Outlook or from the network calendars like Google calendar. Your skins and languages are not backed up either so you need to copy those manually or download them again from wherever you originally got.
Note that when you restore files from a backup file the files will be overwritten. So all your settings, events and tasks will be reset to the ones that are inside the backup. The backup contains absolute paths to the files so you can only restore it to the same computer or one that has all files in the same locations. The backup file is a standard zip archive so you can also restore the files manually from it too.

Hi Sausi,

thank you very much for your reply.

Maybe I should reformulate my issue.

I would like to do automated Rainlendar backups no handmade Rainlendar backups.
Browsing through the Rainlendar Wiki, FAQ and help files, Forestle, ... I could not figure out the possibility to do these kind of automated backups.

In case somebody knows how to do these automatized Rainlendar backups with onboard tools or via offboard tools (e.g. batch script or via another possibility), it would be great to share this issue.

Cheereo,

You need the backup to be same as Rainlendar one?
If you need it, you can create a script to close and restart Rainlendar. Every time Rainlendar starts a backup is created (only 1 by day, overrides previous one).

If you don't, you can use the Task Scheduler of your OS.
For example, on Windows you can create a task to zip the user folder every 2 hour, every day, etc, using a third-party app (WinZip, 7-Zip, WinRAR) and store it where you want.
Or use only third-party apps like Cobian Backup.
