Hi,
I have to work in environment with proxy setup and also with direct internet connections and I need to access ics calendars on the web.
I found the switch "try direct connection if proxy connection fails" very smart and also one cause to buy rainlendar.

In the forum I noticed that other people have also problems with this switch.
So currently rainlendar works very well in proxy environment.

But very, very strange: with direct internet connection I turned off the proxy config to indicate rainlendar not to use the proxy and I still receive "Server returned result (5): Error: Unable to resolve the proxy verify that your proxy settings are correct.
This means I'm not able to access web ics during direct internet connection?

Do you have an Idea?

Do you mean that you cleared all the proxy related settings from Rainlendar's advanced options and you still get the error about proxy resolving? Can you send the Rainlendar's debug log to the support address? I can check if it contains anything which might explain the problem.

Yes that's it. I even installed the program once again to a different file system location and started with an empty ini file. After adding the first network calendar message "proxy settings" appears again. I would like to know to which proxy the program tries to connect.
Even in the debug log you find nothing: empty proxy settings, no info about the error just:

because I like your program I took a deeper look:

• After excluding potential causes like firewall is blocking I finally found the explanation


• I had set the env variable http_proxy and you are evaluating this variable in case of empty proxy entries in the ini file


• so I unset the variable http_proxy and it works with and without proxy


• fantastic: the switch "use direct connection if proxy fails" is working, at least for me, thx !!!


• so maybe this idea helps a bit in case of proxy problems


• * indicate in (debug) log, to which proxy connection fails

I wasn't even aware that libcurl supported environment variables. That's good to know. I'll check if it's possible to get some more details out of the library and into the debug log.
