I'm using the latest Rainlendar Beta with Windows XP SP3 and just noticed a problem when I click on the little Earth icon in an entry to jump to a webpage I've entered into the URL field. When I click it, I get the following message:

"Windows cannot find 'www.nanowrimo.org/'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

The odd thing is the browser then fires up and loads the page fine. By the way I get it on other URL's too.

I had a similar problem in another piece of software I use and it turned out the developer was able to add a fix to his software. It seemed to be connected with using a browser other than Explorer. I've recently started using Firefox (V3.6.11) but before that I used Chrome and don't recall seeing the message when I used that.

Sounds like a problem in the Windows url handler. There are several bug reports about the issue in the Mozilla's bugzilla (e.g. bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426164). I didn't go through all of them so I don't know what the latest status is but at least some of them suggest that removing the DDE Message string helps so you could try that.

I have no idea what that is or how to change it. However, I'm due to get a new laptop soon so I'll see how it works after I move onto that.

Here are the steps I found with Google:
1. Open Explorer
2. Select Tools and then Folder Options
3. Select the File Types tab
4. Select Extension: (NONE), File Type: HyperText Transfer Protocol
5. Click Advanced toward the bottom of the window
6. In the Edit File Type window, select open and click Edit
7. Clear the DDE message box (which should contain "%1")
8. Click OK, Click OK
9. Repeat for File Type: HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy
