TOPIC: Tray icon behaviour has changed in latest version
#16325
Tray icon behaviour has changed in latest version 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I'm a Railendar Pro user for years.

I really like the product, and one of the useful features is the ability to show the current date in the tray (see screenshot).

In previous versions, I have selected "Always show" in my windows taskbar properties, so I can see all the time the day number in my tray.

But with most recent version, this doesn't work, and windows is always "hiding" the Rainlendar icon.

Any idea?

Welcome to the forum, Jorge.

If the trayicon is set and visible but windows is hiding it, then the problem could be the in Notification area.
Did you try removing the keys PastIconsStream and IconStreams on HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify ? (I find it on HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify on Win7). Search for it on the net. I have to do this before when Windows didn't remember my preferences.

Dear Kunena,

I have done the "registry thing", and it doesn't work either.

My problem is that in other versions, when I configure "Always show" for Rainlendar in Windows XP taskbar properties, it works and I can see every day the Rainlendar icon showing the day.

But I think that with the lastest version, when I set "Always show" property, it only works for the current day.

So, the next day the icon is visible, but after a while (maybe one hour, I don't know), the icon is no longer visible...

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards,
Jorge

Make sure you have tooltip text defined for the tray icon (Options->Advanced->Tooltip format). Windows doesn't seem to like tray icons with no name.

Mmm...

I guess this is the solution, I think you are right and Windows doesn't like tray icons with no name!!!

I'm trying your solution and I will post if it works!
