High CPU 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
My RainLendar (Version 2.12.2 (b138) 64 bit Build on Mar 16 2014) on Windows 7 64 bit sometimes uses a lot of CPU - up to 80% constant CPU usage until I shutdown RainLendar and then restart it. After I restart it drops down to less than 1%. It doesn't look or act differently when it is using high CPU. I tried changing skins but still had the same problem. I have deleted it and reinstalled it but its the same problem. It seems to occur just after an event or after sleep mode. I notice it and restart it about 10 times a week. Usually it uses less than 1% CPU.

None of the log entries explain what could be causing the CPU usage. Try running Rainlendar in the debug mode and check from the debug log if there is any activity during the high CPU usage.

You can also create a dump file from the process when the CPU usage is high and send it to me (use the Rainlendar's support address and include a link to this thread) and I can try to check what it was doing at that point. You can create the dump file from the Windows Task Manager (right click on the process and choose "Create dump file").

Hello warren631, hello Rainy

It seems that my installation has the same problem as described here.
I'm running:
Rainlendar Pro
Version 2.12.2 (b138) 32 bit
Erstellt am Mar 16 2014

I have create also the dmp-File but this has a size of about 121MB. Is it ok if I send such a big file to the support mail address?

Thanks
Karl

Here are my emails in the hope that it might help someone find the solution:

Thanks Kimmo. Did all the things you suggested. Didn’t happen for a week but it just happened again – 50% CPU for Rainlendar.

Hi,

The log shows nothing out of ordinary. In the DMP files Rainlendar seems to be redrawing the window. What I noticed is that you have enabled all the windows in the skin. You should remove the windows from the active skin which you are not using since they still require CPU even when hidden.

If you get the slowdown when the alarm is played you could try to use a mp3 file instead a wav file. It could be that the wav audio codec in your system is somehow broken which causes the problem on playback.

Can’t anyone fix this?
It’s not like it happens only on a full moon or once a year.
It happens on every alarm.
I like Rainlendar but this is a real pain in the butt.

Happened again. Changing sound file did not help.

High CPU just happened again. Here is the new dump file:
www.dropbox.com ...DMP

An alarm for a doctor’s appointment at 11:30 AM today 6/19/2014 had an audible alarm set to 30 minutes prior. I acknowledged and silenced this alarm at about 11:10. I noticed the high CPU at about 11:40 (it might have started earlier). The alarm file is c:\bigbenwa.wav set to loop for 3600 seconds. I will change this file to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks, Warren.

Hi,

You can store the files to Dropbox or Microsoft’s OneDrive and send a link to me via email.
