TOPIC: High CPU

Re:High CPU 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Maybe the high cpu is because I loop the alarm sound file for 3600 seconds? This is probably unusual for a Rainlandar application. Since I am not at my computer 24/7, I need Rainlendar to act like an alarm clock and ring an alarm sound continuously until I silence it.

Is there another way to accomplish this 'alarm clock' simulation with Rainlendar?

Now I have the problem again, and some Debug output for that case.
What I can see from the logs is the following

The Problem starts here

08:12:30: [39:55:03.999] KSchu: File: C:\Users\Karl\.rainlendar2\backups\GoogleCalendarDump.json
08:12:30: [39:55:04.000] DEBUG: KSchu: Parsing the JSON took 0 ms
08:12:30: [39:55:04.000] KSchu: Read 0 events from calendar: KSchu
08:12:30: [39:55:04.000] KSchu: CURLINFO_TEXT: Closing connection #0
08:12:30: [39:55:04.000] KSchu: CURLINFO_TEXT: SSLv3, TLS alert, Client hello (1):
08:12:30: [39:55:04.000] KSchu:
08:15:02: [39:57:35.494] DEBUG: Redrawing window Calendar took 11 ms
08:15:02: [39:57:35.585] DEBUG: Redrawing window Event List took 16 ms
08:15:02: [39:57:35.586] DEBUG: Redrawing all windows took 573 ms
08:15:03: [39:57:36.504] DEBUG: Redrawing window Calendar took 14 ms
08:15:03: [39:57:36.612] DEBUG: Redrawing window Event List took 16 ms
08:15:03: [39:57:36.613] DEBUG: Redrawing all windows took 595 ms

<snipped more than 2200 lines of the same kind>

08:27:29: [40:10:02.701] DEBUG: Redrawing all windows took 643 ms
08:27:30: [40:10:03.511] DEBUG: Redrawing window Calendar took 11 ms
08:27:30: [40:10:03.597] DEBUG: Redrawing window Event List took 12 ms
08:27:30: [40:10:03.597] DEBUG: Redrawing all windows took 530 ms

Before that timestamp 08:12:30: [39:55:03.999] the load was ok. After that there is one core constantly working with rainlendar.

The time that is used to draw all the windows before is more or less the same

for example:

23:57:17: [31:39:51.090] KSchu: CURLINFO_TEXT: SSLv3, TLS alert, Client hello (1):
23:57:17: [31:39:51.090] KSchu:
00:00:00: [31:42:34.026] DEBUG: Redrawing window Calendar took 12 ms
00:00:01: [31:42:34.207] DEBUG: Redrawing window Event List took 46 ms
00:00:01: [31:42:34.207] DEBUG: Redrawing all windows took 829 ms
00:00:01: [31:42:34.208] DEBUG: Removed backup file "C:\Users\Karl\.rainlendar2\backups\20140623-Rainlendar2Backup.zip"

From the log it seems that there is some kind of infinite loop that redraws the windows every time.

Maybe that helps or do you need more logs /dumps?

Are you doing something with the calendar when it is redrawing the windows? Are you using one of the non-modified standard skins? If you refresh Rainlendar while it is using the CPU does it fix the problem or does it happen again when the alarm is shown?

@ks2014, you most likely cannot send such large attachments but you can upload the dmp file e.g. to Dropbox or Google Drive and send the link to the file. Remember to include also the debug log.

Happened again and it's a pain. It seems to happen about ten minutes after an audible alarm is triggered. It happens with both 32 and 64 bit versions. I'm not at the computer when the high CPU starts. How do you "refresh Rainlendar"? If I stop and then restart Rainlendar then the CPU drops from 50% to less than 1%.

What do you mean by "You should remove the windows from the active skin which you are not using since they still require CPU even when hidden."? I am using only the standard Savannah skin.

Please fix this. I might even buy the pro.

How do you "refresh Rainlendar"?
Select "Refresh" from the context menu.

What do you mean by "You should remove the windows from the active skin which you are not using since they still require CPU even when hidden."?
Go to Options->Skins and move the windows that you don't use away from the active list (right side).

Still having the high CPU and other problems with reminders going off at the wrong time so I tried "Desktop iCalendar Lite". It's identical to Rainlendar but no bugs.....so far.
