Startup error in Linux 7 Years, 4 Months ago
Hy!

Since last weekend I cannot start my Rainlendar, and I have no idea why. It doesn't show any error messages, just quit fast after a half second. And with root, it starts fine, so my guess is some rights assigment problem, but I don't know, where. Can you help me to debug this? To present some debug messages will be very helpful, put I wasn't able to do.

Thanks:

Run Rainlendar from command line with debugging enabled and check what's in the log (it's in ~/.config/.rainlendar2/rainlendar2.log or ~/.rainlendar2/rainlendar2.log).

Code:

./rainlendar2 --debug

From time to time the same error occured to me. I'm running RL 2.0.2 (b32) as an autostarted application (after login) on Xubuntu 6.06. When autostart failed, all manual attempts to start RL failed, too.

My solution: delete

/home/username/.config/.rainlendar2/Rainlendar2-Username

and try to start RL again (replace username with YOUR username). Hope it helps...

@Rainy: ~/.config/.rainlendar2/rainlendar2.log doesn't contain any hints in this case...

PS: in another thread Rainy recommends "rainlendar2 -m" for autostart. This disables lock file checking - easier than deleting the lock file manually (see above).

Post edited by: aasche, at: 2007/07/08 13:24

Hi and thanks for Rainlendar a fine app which i use all the time for organising myself which was never easy.

But i get the start up error;
1)Can start Rainlendar from terminal as root.
2)If i log out and immediate log back in Rainlendar auto starts OK.
3)If i delete ./.config/Rainlendar2-myusername Rainlendar will start OK from terminal as user or auto start OK on the next session.

But after a few more days the prob reappears.Only error in log is 'cannot open license.r2lic'.

Any idea's to sort this?.I would continue to use Rainlendar irrespective.

Best wishes Chris.

OS is Ubuntu Fiesty and Rainlendar version is -Lite-2.1

Post edited by: clodhopper, at: 2007/05/25 20:45

You can try to start rainlendar with -m command line argument. It will ignore the multiple instance check so Rainlendar should start even if the lock file still exists.
