There is a VMware image of archlinux here:
http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/1313

It is a little outdated, so you will need to run the following commands after you load it up:

- open a terminal and enter
Code:

pacman -Syyu

Follow any instructions that come-up on the screen. It's an old image, so there may be a few.

Run the "pacman -Syyu" command again and repeat until it doesn't install anything new. This will update all the base packages. You should reboot too, since it will be installing a new kernel.

Then you will need to install a newer version of yaourt:
Code:

pacman -R yaourt
cd ~
mkdir tmp
cd tmp
wget http://files.teaman.org/pkgbuilds/yaourt.tar.gz
tar -zxf yaourt.tar.gz
cd yaourt
makepkg -i

With the new version of yaourt, you can update any packages that aren't part of the main distro and install rainlendar:
Code:

yaourt -Syu --aur
yaourt -S rainlendar-beta

Once you have the image set-up, you should be able to update it with the command: "yaourt -Syu --aur". It might be a good distro for you to test on, as it works on a rolling release system and usually has all the newest libs.

Cheers,
Jonathan

2.4.b69-1 still produces the same problem.

I got the archlinux (thanks for the link) up and running and the problem can be reproduced with it. However it seems to be somewhere in Gtk or wxWidgets so it will probably take a while before I can figure out how to fix it (if it's even possible for me to fix it in Rainlendar's code).

This is awful, rainlendar is broken for 5 months now. I have tried every other replacement out there and let me tell your there is nothing as good as rainlendar. Osmo comes close but is terribly limited by GTK - can't be resized easily, can't remove the toolbar, broken mini display...

Sad thing about it is that I only need the calendar display, I don't use any other feature (notes, weather, TODO...) and there is no app that does it so simple and so nice as rainlendar. I wrote a replacement in lua+libnotify that just displays the "cal" output but I'm sick of it, I want rainlendar back. Since that won't happen I will have to write my own GTK calendar, time to sharpen my Python skills.

Good bye.
