There is a VMware image of archlinux here:
It is a little outdated, so you will need to run the following commands after you load it up:
- open a terminal and enter
Follow any instructions that come-up on the screen. It's an old image, so there may be a few.
Run the "pacman -Syyu" command again and repeat until it doesn't install anything new. This will update all the base packages. You should reboot too, since it will be installing a new kernel.
Then you will need to install a newer version of yaourt:
pacman -R yaourt
tar -zxf yaourt.tar.gz
With the new version of yaourt, you can update any packages that aren't part of the main distro and install rainlendar:
yaourt -Syu --aur
yaourt -S rainlendar-beta
Once you have the image set-up, you should be able to update it with the command: "yaourt -Syu --aur". It might be a good distro for you to test on, as it works on a rolling release system and usually has all the newest libs.
