Re:Right click causes freeze 5 Years, 5 Months ago
Couple of clarifications:
- Is the problem something which only happens with the Arch Linux or can it be reproduced with other distros too?
- Does the crash happen no matter which icon theme you select for gtk?

I heard only from Arch users who had the same problem. Maybe it can be reproduced on other distros, but i didn't heard of anything like that.

And i think it's independent of the selected icon theme. I just tried to switch to a default theme and i got the same problem as everytime.

It happens no matter what icon set is used for sure.

I can confirm that: I tried at least 5 icon sets and the problem didn't change.

BTW this is what is done by ArchLinux developers to package Gtk2:
Code:

  cd "${srcdir}/gtk+-${pkgver}"
  ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc \
              --localstatedir=/var --with-xinput=yes \
      --without-libjasper \
      --with-included-loaders=png || return 1
  make || return 1
  make DESTDIR="${pkgdir}" install || return 1

  echo 'gtk-fallback-icon-theme = "gnome"' > "${pkgdir}/etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc" || return 1

No patches are applied to Gtk2 2.16.2 version

Hope this can help.

Hmmm... I was getting an issue in latest Arch Linux; kernel build 2.6.29. Every time I right clicked it closed out of the calendar desklet. I found an oh-too-simple fix for my situation. I simply did `sudo pacman -S gtk`. It installed two packages: glib-1.2.10-7 and gtk-1.2.10-9. I'm unclear as if this is a well known fix or what-have-you. Just thought I'd share.

~lark.

Edit: false alarm. it does work, but sporadically. i cannot reproduce how to get it working it seems to decide that for itself...

Here's something you can try if you have Gnome 2.26:

- run gconf-editor
- go to desktop/gnome/interface
- uncheck buttons_have_icons and menus_have_icons

You'll lose your menu and button icons from your applications but Rainlendar shouldn't crash anymore because of them.
