I have enjoyed Rainlendar for a long time now, but have found myself in need of a feature which it does not cover. Exactly on the 42th week of every year, we here in Denmark have autumn holiday. Unfortunately I have not found a way in Rainlendar to make this public-event repeat itself every year.

Like I can select to repeat something every Month, and then choose whether it should be the date or the placement of the day relative to the start of the month that is the fixpoint, I would like to select to repeat every year, and the choose whether it should be the date or week number that is to be the fixpoint.

Did you try to add an event with a repeat time of 52 weeks? I use the Sunday start week day, but if you use the Monday start week day (as i think) then your year have 52 or 53 weeks. So, you can add, for example:
New event; start day: 18 August, 2010; end day: 24 August, 2010; repeat every 52 weeks (all week days); until 18 October 2015.
And add new events for the years: 2016-2020, 2021-2026, 2027-2032

So, with 4 events you have added the autumn holiday from 2010 to 2032 (5 years for each event approximately).

radio buttons changed depending on the recurrence
choice (Days/Weeks/Months/Years)

I've been trying to include
annual events that don't fall on the same date
(like USA Thanksgiving), and could
only approximate it under 'yearly' recurrence.

How to set USA Thanksgiving: fourth Thursday of November

Change the list box to "Months"
Pick "on the fourth Thursday of the month"
Set number of "Repeat every ___ months" to 12

Great!

Now I can use this for the "last weekend in September" Polish
Festival in Portland.

HAP: Here you have another way to add a week holiday on every week 42. This script add "on the fly" the 42 week holiday in the current year and in the subsequents 10 years.

How to install it:
Copy the attached file to [program folder]/scripts
e.g. in Windows: C:\Program Files\Rainlendar2\scripts

Then, refresh the program and look for week 42.
Note: this only works for Rainlendar2, not for Google Calendar or any other calendar app.
