SFTP / FTPS Support 3 Years, 9 Months ago
I am using the Pro Version of Rainlendar and host my *.ics files on my own FTP server.

Now this is a big security issue since FTP transfers both credentials as well as actual content in plain text.

So my feature request is support for encrypted FTP:

"FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS/SSL"
or
"SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol"

quoted from Filezilla

Thanks for the best Calendar I ever used though

I think secure ftp should be already supported. Try to use "ftps://" when you define the url.

Thanks for the tip.

It works but only in implicit TLS/SSL mode and you can also set port with ":21" after the URL

Like "ftps://yourftpserver:21"

I still think FTPES: "FTP over explicit SSL" support would be great feature addition as it the most recent and most secure standard: tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2228

I am also trying to connect to a remote calendar using ftps. Using the URL
ftps://XXX:XXX@SERVERNAME.de/Default.ics
I get a connection error. Removing the s so Rainlendar uses:
ftp://XXX:XXX@SERVERNAME.de/Default.ics
I can download and upload the calendar.

I have been unable to find another way to encrypt the transmission of the file. Do you have any suggestions or doesn't it work with rainlendar at all?
(I am using Rainlendar Pro 64bit 2.11.1, registered to a different e-mail address)

Rainlendar uses libcurl for the network access so anything it supports should work with Rainlendar too. If you enable the debug log you can see all the traffic between Rainlendar and the server which probably helps with debugging.

The problem might be that my server doesn't like implicit encryption:
20:37:47: [0:00:23.793] Netzwerk: CURLINFO_TEXT: About to connect() to xxx.xxxxxxxx.de port 990 (#0)
20:37:47: [0:00:23.793] Netzwerk: CURLINFO_TEXT: Trying 195.78.xxx.xxx...
20:37:48: [0:00:24.970] Netzwerk: CURLINFO_TEXT: Connection refused
20:37:48: [0:00:24.970] Netzwerk: CURLINFO_TEXT: couldn't connect to host
20:37:48: [0:00:24.970] Netzwerk: CURLINFO_TEXT: Closing connection #0

Can I force rainlendar to use explicit encryption on port 21?
