You should be able to define the port in the url (ftps://ftp.server.de:21/Default.ics).

I tried your suggestion, this is the error log:

20:34:49: [0:00:18.216] Netzwerk: Result: (35) 0 Wrong when connecting with SSL.

I don't know what to do with that. Is this rainlendar trying to use implicit encryption on the wrong port and the server rejecting it?

Your server doesn't seem to support ftps. At least not in port 21.

Well, that's the thing. I use WinSCP to connect to the server using the same credentials. The settings for WinSCP are:
file protocol: FTP, SSL explicit encryption
The port is set to 21 when switching to explicit encryption, the implicit setting changes it to 990.

Using those settings for explicit encryption, I can connect to the server. With the implicit, it doesn't work.

On my tablet, I use ICalSync to update the calendar. There I enter the ftps://XXX:XXX@servername.de/Default.ics link and it is able to connect to the server.

So my guess is that rainlendar uses implicit encryption by default without the possibility to switch to explicit encryption, as already stated by the initial poster. From my logs rainlendar sends a "Client Hello" to the server, only found for implicit encryption. This happens even when forced to port 21, even though this is not allowed for implicit.

Could you implement a switch for libcurl somehow to enable explicit encryption?

There seems to be a flag in libcurl which forces the ftp connection to use ssl which might work. I have no means to test it myself but I can probably create a settings to enabled it.

That would be very cool. I will happily try it and give you feedback.
