Manual update/poll frequency for network calendars 4 Months ago
Please add an option to manually update (only) a network calendar.

Online network calendars like 'holidays' just change once a year or so and site owners kindly ask to poll only in such an interval. Rainlendar instead polls every time you start the program or leave the options. That's way too high.

By default Rainlendar doesn't keep copies of the online events so it has to download them during the startup.
I can add the feature to the backlog but in the mean time you could download the ics file manually from the server and use it as a local calendar.

Will use it as offline calendar for now. Thanks.

You could "dirty flag" the 'calendar' options so whenever the user only changes something in 'general' or 'advanced' options it doesn't completely reinitializes all the calendars (when leaving the options). Here, for 6 CalDav calendars it freezes for 3-4 seconds every time when leaving the options (even though nothing has changed in 'calendars'). It doesn't freeze on regular syncing though.

Yep, in most cases it's probably not necessary to reload the calendars when closing the options dialog. I'll see if that could be fixed.

This happens also when shutting down Rainlendar. It needs 3-4 seconds to gracefully end the process. And that's a problem. Linux doesn't wait for it on OS shutdown. It kills it ungracefully and next time you start Rainlendar there is data loss indeed (Error: Config corrupt (Reset/Use Backup/Keep).

The error is shown if the config file gets cleared for some reason. I'm not sure why that would happen in this case since usually there is no reason to touch the file when Rainlendar quits. I can add a flag to ignore all writes to the file during exit so let's see if that helps with the problem.
