so I know that the developers are aware of the issue when trying to pin the windows to the desktop in vista or newer OSes; I get a warning in v. 2.5 of rainlendar that vista renders things poorly when I try to select it. and if I do select it, transparency stops working and the rendering does indeed get weird.

I just wanted to point out that, in windows 7, there is a button on the far right side of the taskbar that highlights the desktop by turning all open windows into outlines when you hover the mouse over it (the feature is called "preview desktop," and is a sub-function of aero peek):

needless to say, it would be awesome if rainlendar was preserved when I did this, so that I could check my calendar by hovering over this button.

Yes, it would be great if the calendar stayed visible with the aero peek so let's hope that Microsoft releases an API or instructions how this can be accomplished.

hi rainy for what it's worth I cross-posted this question at a windows 7 forum and they suggested that the only way to do this at present was to develop rainlendar under the microsofy gadget architecture: www.sevenforums.com/customization/5388-preview-desktop-question-new-post.html so yeah, I'm definitely hoping for the release of the API

Oh, and as a bonus ... while you wait for Rainy, here's a PowerShell 2.0 script which will fix all the Rainlendar windows so they don't hide during Aero Peek on Windows 7 I wrote this up as a PowerShell script/function to make it a little easier to use to apply this trick to whatever other apps you may have ... http://huddledmasses.org/fun-with-pinvoke-and-aero-peek/
