Creating Days without events, but with icons 3 Years, 3 Months ago

Is it possible to create an event that has an icon, BUT somehow so the calendar does not skin the actual date itself. In the example of Shadow4, I want to create an event that keeps the same color for the date as any regular day, not blue. However I still want an icon in the upper corner.
I've tried editing the elements.xml to have that specific event be the same color as regular days, however that just means when an event does show up, it doesn't show up as being blue.

Try setting ignoredefault="1" for the appearance.
