Odd when I look at the png on my system it looks fine, but attached to the message here, it seems blank.

OK, download the image, use painter.exe can see it.
And just like I said previously, to modify todolist.xml file, find the code-line :
<image id="Todo List.background.top" element="bitmap.background.top.todo" origin1="TOP-LEFT" x1="0" y1="0" origin2="BOTTOM-RIGHT" x2="0" scaling="TILE" margins="95,0,8,0" />
change as margins="105,0,8,0".

Thank you.

I decided that the font I was using didn't look good so I changed the font to LCDMono Bold.
I had to play with the font size a bit, because with the new font, the margins that you suggested didn't work very well.

How do you know what the margins should be?
I thought maybe it is based on the png size, except the png I uploaded is 108 px wide and the margin you suggested has 105 as one of the values.

I'd like to use an image that is a bit larger for the events background, because as it is, I'm using G. Calendar instead of Google Calendar because I run out of room on the canvas.
(When I tried making the canvas larger I had display problems. Also related to the margins?)

I'm used to Conky and this xml stuff is quite a bit different than just laying everything out in simple code (example ${font})

You can see a screenshot of my desktop here.
The Google stuff, the calendar and the month calendar in the middle are R2. The rest is Conky

I am also not very clear the usage of "margins", but after repeated attempts, I get the idea:
If image-width is "108" pixel, and string(Google Tasks)-width is "100" pixel,
when use margins="left, up, right, down"
"left" must greater than "100", smaller than "108",
"right" must smaller than "108 - 100"

I had not use Conky, so I do not know what different between them.

I'm sorry I don't quite understand.
Do you have any idea what I need to do to increase the attached png (the text is white) so that I can have the words Google Calendar instead of G. Calendar?

I would think I could simply make the image canvas larger.

Code:

<image id="Event List.background.top" element="bitmap.background.top.events" origin1="TOP-LEFT" x1="0" y1="0" origin2="BOTTOM-RIGHT" x2="0" scaling="TILE" margins="105,0,8,0" />
