New weather widget 3 Years, 4 Months ago
Since MSN has changed their web site and the rss feeds are not available anymore I changed the weather widget to use Google's weather API instead. You can download the new version from here: GWeather.r2skin

The location for the weather can be changed from the window's settings. You can also change the language from there. Note that the units (celsius/fahrenheit) depends on the used language.

Hi Rainy,

I'm seeing some strange things in this new "Weather Widget".
The first Widget is the old one (with MSN) and is perfectly correct. The second is the new (with Google API).

Black Arrow: It is night here and the MSN is correct, but the Google source…

Red Ellipse: New widget will need translation.

Yellow Rectangle: different temperatures (MSN is correct).

Green Rectangle: it is not possible to see the entire name of the city.

Thank you very much.

Black: Seems like Google doesn't have night pictures.
Red: This is simple (only if you know how to extract the translated image from the Shadow4.r2skin and copy to this new skin).
Yellow: How you know that MSN temperatures are correct? I don't trust anyone... even my own national weather service. I'm not an US citizen but check this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Weather_Service#Controversy Even the weather has his economic side.
Green: Yes... you're right

I've also found the Weather Widget from Yahoo!
Here they have a full manual of the feed: developer.yahoo.com/weather/
The problems are that it only shows current temperature and one day forecast.

I'll add the language support once the widget is ready. The forecast is just an estimate so they can be different depending who makes them. Note that in the new widget the order is hi/lo instead lo/hi like previously. I updated the widget so that it will now cut the city name after the first comma or dash.

Well,
Thanks Jorge and Rainy for the inputs.
But I will keep using the MSN Widget version since it looks pretty good and is working fine with my city code:

weather.msn.com/RSS.aspx?wealocations=wc:BRXX0198%26weadegreetype=C

Yes, I saw that, but the weather forecast of Google doesn't use the Airport service of my city (temperature and weather).
Too different and, as far I know, the Airport Weather service is the most accurate here since it is used by all TV channels, Internet News site, and Newspapers.
Anyway, thank you very much for all your efforts.

Have a nice weekend,
Clóvis.

Hello,

I tested the new widget version and now it is working fine.
I will observe the night/day weather pictures to see if it matches the real situation here.

Best regards,
Clóvis.
